Traffic Incidents related to Bruce Highway, South Innisfail, QLD

The Department of Transport and Main Roads, in conjunction with Queensland Police Service, asks motorists to delay all non-essential travel on the Bruce Highway south of Innisfail. This is due to the closure of the Bruce Highway at Tully and between Cardwell and Ingham, due to heavy rainfall and flooding at various creeks and crossings. The department would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during this time.

The Bruce highway is CLOSED at the McAvoy River Bridge due to flooding.

The traffic signals at the intersection of Bruce Hwy and Mourilyan Rd in Innisfail are not showing the Red signal and motorists are advised to proceed with caution.

Due to flooding the South Johnstone River Bridge on the Bruce Hwy is under water. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to seek and alternative route.

There is pothole hazard affecting both directions on River Ave (aka Innisfail-Japoon Rd) in the vicinity of Aerodrome Rd. Motorists are urged with drive with care, especially at night.

Edith Street (between Grace St and Station Rd) - Road improvement works to resurface and improve drainage are progressing. Traffic control will be in place with a reduced speed of 40km/h through the worksite. Completion expected late October 2010. Expect minor traffic delays. (Last updated 22/10/10)

There is reports of a diesal spill on the Bruce Hwy, southbound at the roundabout near Bambook Creek.

There is a oil spill report on River Ave in the vicinity of Innisfail High School. Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with care.

There is large pothole on River Avenue southbound near Stitt Street, Mighell. Motorists are advised to drive with care in this area.

There is water over the road near the August Moon Caravan park south of Innisfail. Motorists are advised to slow down and drive to the conditions of the road for the safety of themselves and other motorists.
