Queensland Fire and Rescue Service advise a large smoke haze is covering Mount Isa, as a result of a south-easterly wind change. The smoke haze is expected to last for several days. All fire activity is currently burning in inaccessible country and is being monitored by fire crews and no houses are under threat. Motorists should take extra care and drive to conditions.

Barkly Highway (Mt Isa - Camooweal) is currently closed due a road accident approximately 50km south east of Camooweal. Motorists are advised this closure may be in place for the next few hours.
